Loft Conversion
Guest room with en suite and entertainment room
Our customer's brief
A relaxing space for guests
When her children flew the nest, one Strachan customer decided to move in with her partner in South Yorkshire. However, with her children wishing to visit frequently, she decided it would be a good idea to convert her loft space, creating a bedroom, en suite bathroom and seating area for them to enjoy when staying over.
"I knew my youngest would be staying a while after finishing university. The loft seemed like a good place for her, but it was a bit empty up there. I requested a free design consultation and loved all the ideas. Now I think she’ll never want to leave."
Blending into the home
A contemporary touch
Our Optima range co-ordinated with the wooden beam structure and introduced a modern touch to the loft. Together with the client, we decided on an Oak finish. This gave the space a clean, contemporary feel while also perfectly matching up to the existing wooden beams.

Fitted functionality
Strachan provided an entire fitted bedroom set, including the bed frame, headboard with integrated plugs and light switches, as well as fitted side tables and wardrobes. For extra functionality, the customer also requested a vanity desk. This was complete with radiator cover, LED lighted mirror and matching chair, tailored in the customer’s choice of fabric.
"We were so impressed with what Strachan managed to do with the loft. They gave it a personality that matches our home. It’s a fantastic place for guests and now we have friends and family lining up for a visit."

Making the most of awkward spaces
Considered solutions
The shape of the loft bedroom proved something of a challenge when it came to fitting a wardrobe. However, the Strachan design consultant found an inspired solution. A double wardrobe was installed under the pitch of the room, with doors aligning under the wood beams. This gave the customer plenty of hanging storage without taking up much floor space.
Style that flows from one room to the next
Elegant en suite
The design carried through into the en suite bathroom. The smaller space of the room and the sloping ceiling meant that there were limited options in terms of storage. Strachan decided to utilise the space between the edge of the bathtub and the wall, fitting cabinets and draws in the same wood finish to echo the bedroom’s design.
Seamlessly integrated technology
Modern luxuries
As part of the loft conversion, we also designed and created an entertainment area. The TV, speaker and DVD player were all inset directly into the wall. In order to create a consistency in design, we created a wood surround for each device, matching the other fitted furniture to integrate them into the room’s style. A desk space was also installed to provide a place for work and study.
